What Does Black History Month Mean To You This Year?
Funny you should ask! This is the first year in a long time that I’m actually enjoying Black History month. For so long it felt like a band aid over a bullet wound. But this year it seems so necessary. I’d say Black History month means in a word: Resilience. Beyonce raising her fist during the Super Bowl, Kendrick Lamar lighting the Grammy stage on fire (literally) to Amandla gracing the cover of Teen Vogue with a proud smirk. Like Lamar says, “we goin’ be alright,” because we are. Yes, our hearts may break when injustices befall upon us, but they won’t stop beating. These 29 days are a reminder of that, I see that now.
What Is On Trend For You?
This is Frédérique Harrel, she’s a stylist and fashion blogger based in the UK and she’s just darling. Everything from her wild amazing locks to her funky style just screams “now” to me. It’s finally celebrated, around the world, to wear our hair in massive afros. The fro is no longer seen as just political, but also chic. Harrel also fearlessly rocks patterns like nobody’s business.
