Columbia Road Flower Market

On Sunday morning in East London you can find beautiful cut flowers, orchids, and plants for your home. The first sounds you'll here when walking down the street are "Two for a fiver" referring to two bunches of flowers for five pounds. There is a sea of vintage and antique shops, as well as art galleries surrounding the flower market. To learn more about this area check out http://columbiaroad.info/home.html.

SCP shop in London

This weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting the UK based manufacturer and retailer SCP in Shoreditch, London. To say I was blown away is an understatement! From the very moment you enter the showroom you are spellbound by all of the furniture and accessories. Color and bold patterns jump out at you everywhere you look. SCP is internationally known for it's contemporary designs, and collaborations with emerging and established artists like Donna Wilson, Jasper Morrison, Tom Dixon, and Matthew Hilton. To see more from SCP visit www.scp.co.uk.

My weekend in London

I want to share with you images from my visit at the concept shop, East London Furniture Company. My friend Charlene Lam introduced me to the artist Christian Dillon, and we toured his studio space. The most intriguing part of Christian's furniture is that it is made of recycled shipping pallets. To learn more about his furniture, and the process check out eastlondonfurniture.blogspot.com.

Trip to Eastern Market

Photography by Leon Belt

As a Capitol Hill resident, Eastern Market is one perk you cannot pass up.  Whenever I get the chance, I have to go to the market and get fresh cut flowers, fresh vegetables and fruits, and of course, pickles from the pickle man.  I start my  trip with a fruit smoothly from a local vendor, and then persue the vendors' stands for the perfect flea market find.

Today I got the perfect cut flowers from Blue Iris.  This is my favorite vendor to go to for cut flowers. The booth is inside the pavilion. The flowers at Blue Iris may cost a few more dollars than the other vendors in the market, however they are always the best pick for long lasting, beautiful cut flowers in your home.  For only $15, I got a bouquet of flowers and placed ten bud vases throughout our house.  See below some of the simple flower arrangements we placed in our home.

Blues Clues

Today, I decided the only way I was going to be able to cool off from this unbearable heat was to start thinking of fall. I scavenged my Etsy favs for the perfect shades of blue that will "pop" my style this fall, against those autumn leaves.  To see the full collection click here
